For 72 years, Jarrel Jones has lived in the same humble, childhood home in Southwest Austin. At 88 years young, he and his wife Angela (Angie) were facing overwhelming challenges caring for their nearly century-old home. For decades, they filled its walls with love, prayer, and memories. But over time, their sanctuary began to crumble.
What began as a simple request to clear brush in the yard, quickly revealed urgent and dangerous issues: raccoons and rattlesnakes slipped inside through rotting walls to invade their home, missing siding and a leaky roof enabling water damage, the water well sat exposed to the elements, the yard grew wild, and even their walkway became unsafe – critical structural damage threatening their safety.
Then God moved!
When a local church connected the Joneses with Cornerstone Restoration, volunteers poured out love in action – replacing siding, repairing the well house, clearing the yard, trimming back trees, and laying a safe new walkway. Jarrel called them “teams of angels,” while Angie’s radiant smile said it all.
But the greatest restoration went beyond repairs. The Cornerstone Care Team continued to walk with Jarrel and Angie, offering prayer, friendship, and the reminder that they are not forgotten, they are seen. Through God’s goodness and the hands of His people, their home – and their hope – are being renewed.
We have previously restored their home exterior, their water well, and removed mountains of debris from around the home to make things safer for them. We want to go back and finish the work on the property that we started in February 2026, so we will load up some more debris and clear out as much dead brush as we can.
